Jumping around, on top of, below, falling all over each other. Drinking so much that either you pass out and have to be carried home or you are so pumped, you have no idea what you're doing. Grinding against each other in twos and threes. Dancing to Britney Spears music, acting too much like a pretzel, naughty girl, for a guy. Dressing in handkerchiefs that are almost see through, hoping to catch someone's eye and then pulling the dress up or down in a useless effort to cover what needs to be covered. Guys ogling, equally shamelessly in a vain desire that they will " connect " with someone enough to get a number. Gals making lewd gestures to guys & other gals making it a part of their dance to grant deniability. Couples as good as making out in the middle of a room full of people, breaking their shoes, tearing at each others clothes in the process.

Yeah, I had the pleasure of spending a few hours at a club yesterday. The pictures I have in my mind of all the above are gifts that will keep on giving. I ain't no prude. I've been to enough dances, discos, pubs and clubs but it's always amusing what people do think that no one's watching, though inside they are just dying to get everyone's attention. I mean, surely a guy acting like " Britney " is a cry for attention ??!!!

Whatever happened to " moderation " & " respectability - yours and others " ? They say, hey !! I need to let lose, get away from my tensions, need a break. Heard it all! Everyone has problems but do you really need to be out of your mind , to feel liberated ? I really wondered if any of those people actually enjoy themselves in the real sense, for what about later when they remember / realize what all happened the night before ?? I would think a few honest to goodness moves and laughs would work just as well at being called " FUN" , maybe even better. Then again, I'm very well aware of those out there who Cannot be convinced to pace themselves. They just have to get that elusive " Kick " such that it keeps on KICKING !!! :p

I for one, had an unadulterated, fantastical time. A " few " drinks. chuckles shared with friends, awesome music, rocking the dance floor with my sweetheart, fully clothed gave the same feelings of elation as all the above.

When did Partying become acting like an idiot to feel better about the sulkiness of life ?? The dictionary says, it's social gathering especially for pleasure or amusement , not an excuse for indecent behavior. Definitely not a pre requisite. But then, the rate at which the society seems to be deteriorating, this is Just the tip of the ice berg. It's a fad now, to go clubbing and seem hip so on the show goes ...

For me, the greatest highs come from any of my guilty pleasures - Dancing, Music, Rain, Long Drives, New cuisine, Books, Friends, Laughter, Movies, Long winded talks, A new experience, Romance etc etc. If a day includes one or more of the above, is a gleeful day for me. Those days my husband has often commented about how I act light headed even though I didn't have anything :)) And then I tell him, " See ?? You don't need to get High to get HIGH !!!! " :)

What is your path for achieving euphoria ??

hehe. this is precisely why i avoid parties. ive been to a pub just once, tht too on my frnd's insistence. Did nothing much, jus sat there like a schizo not knowing what to do :P

Same reason for not being to any concert so far, even though im a die-hard heavy metal fan. I'd rather be with 'Friends only' or spend my time alone.

Some People wud do anything to look cool. They call it "LIVING LIFE KINGSIZE" :P

Same here.. I have never understoof the concept of Letting lose, especially if it's at the cost of control on myself. I'd rather indulge in something like a good book, nice lunch, good company, a nice conversation et al. that's pretty much my idea of FUN and enjoyment :)

Well, I agree to one and all u mentioned there!

There is a level of decency that is expected out of each of us when in a social gathering;I really don't have any idea what makes people cross the line.

Take care dear...Keep smiling :)

I totally second you on that! For most people, fun is more about showing-off than about how it makes you feel from within. For me, its a long drive at night with somebody I enjoy talking to, a nice long heart-to-heart conversation, laughter and a couple of cups of coffee!

Haha well described. :) I personally love night-life, I think going out to bars and clubs with friends is a great time. But like you rightly pointed out, everything in moderation. I can't stand when people have had one too many drinks and start acting so incredibly stupid, slurring their words, spilling their drinks, falling over....ending their night puking. AH why? I don't see how that's all that fun, or those that wake up the next morning (hopefully in their own bed) and look around confused as to what happened the night before.

I think what makes me feel the most euphoric is being out with friends traveling. I absolutely love the rush you get from all staying in the same hotel, running around being silly, taking fun vacation pictures, and exploring new places and cuisine together. :) I'm all for the "wining & dining while traveling with friends" euphoria, heh.

How true Adisha!! Morals seem to be deteriorating. It seems it all happened overnight. People like these, like you said are crying for attention. For someone to notice them. For someone to like and love them. It it takes shock value to get them that, they will stoop to any level to do it. It's so sad really. Reminds me of this line from a famous movie "Bachpan mein zor da chaanta laga hota.." :D

What they have to realize is that pulsating music and intoxicants shall not give them any happiness. These might be like pain killers. But until the root of the problems is tackled, the pain will keep resurfacing!

Humans by their nature need attention and when normal things don't work people don't mind grabbing attention by negative means. Being indecent in a public gathering is just one of the examples. People feel they are a rebel against this society and its rules as it is not doing justice to them. Deep down I feel sorry for them as they don't know what they are parting with just to have some eyeballs rolling

**When did Partying become acting like an idiot to feel better about the sulkiness of life

very well-said!

I go to parties, I drink n dance too, but I stick to the keyowrd very well. MODERATION.

Some ppl lose control at the risk of looking like total idiots. It's not cool to be an idiot!

well looks like everyone is agreeing here so i am totally going to be the odd one out, but still i guess i will stick to mentioning my views about it.

For me, pleasure is a relative term; you may seek it in totally different stuff from the other. Is it necessary for those people to be bad and immoral who acquire there pleasure out of loosing the compactness of their minds and bodies? Seeing them as attention grabbers is one aspect, others may see them as girls being girls or guys being guys. I do not propagate being shameless and weird. However i do believe that people have different ways of gaining pleasure (which others should not restrict) and different ways to make themselves get the “feel” that they have enjoyed. Its in the state of mind, people would rather spend more dimes to get to a place that satisfies their cognition and pre-conceived notions of having fun... Anyway I also believe that people will always have some stuff to say about you.. If u enjoy in a party hard enuf, you'll be talked about and if u don’t then as well you'll be labeled as a shy chicken or a party spoiler. Point is live and let live. Why invade others right to be the way they want to be unless off course its harming u...

Well that’s just a point of view, no offence... and just for the record, I’ve never got drunk or went to a club etc so not a personal attack here, just a view =)

Cheers

@ Zainab - Thank you for visiting. And for your views. I totally agree with you in everythign you have said. Pleasure is a relative term and to each his own.

But, yeah, there is a but :D - it's only natural for one to get judgmental when you see the concepts of morality deteriorating day by day. Here I haven't talked for the sake of talking dear. All I state is that in every situation " moderation " should be kept in mind. For when you party too hard, it's heart breaking to see a friend puking their guts out, or crying from a horrid hang over later or someone saying hurtful things or taking advantage of someone's vulnerability. In extreme cases, people tend do things and have No memory of what happened the night before and that too has dire consequences. Thus when people act that way, what comes to My mind is what is this behavior going to lead to later in the night. And THAT is what worries me. For later, those same people who are so GUNG HO about having fun, are not ready to face the consequences... That time there's no live and let live for them , coz someone or the other always gets hurt one way or another !!

Else everyone loves a good laugh !!! I too hadn't intended to make personal attacks on anyone. Just commenting on how bad thigns are getting today when people aren't willing to take responsibility in their actions- before and after. In a club u'll see only a TINY percentage of the the people will be behaving like there's no tomorrow and those exact same percentage will Definitely be sorry for everything that happened.

As for people who are talked about for being party poopers, I'd say better safe than sorry. Better people talking about you for not doing anything, than becoming tomorrow's news for something that you Have done !!! :)

Keep visiting !! It's always great to hear another point of view. When you put forth ur comment, I was just wondering how come no one gave a counter view. Just didn't expect it from a person whose doesn't drink at all !! :))

@ Keshi - So not cool !! :)

@ Sushant - That's so true ... The people wanting to be rebellious for the sake of being different and attract attention.

@ Stillness Speaks - Hahahaha. Bachpan mein zorr ka ... hehehe. So very true !! I for one am thankful for all the chaantas I got when I was young. :D

@ Chiz - Yeah , I can imagine :) I haven't danced like that in almost 2 years. So miss just dancing ...

@ Kunjal - That's all I say - Keep moderation in mind !

@ Archana - Keep rocking gurl !! Wish you more smiles :)

@ Su - Glad I could achieve that effect. Thank you for noticing.

@ Appy - Long drives aaaaah !!!

@ Akanksha - I guess it's how the other spin offs have mentioned. It's a cry for attention to be different from the others, to connect with someone, anyone !!

@ Nekita - Letting lose is good as long as you know what you are actually doing.

@ Nups - Yeah, they sure made the night lively :))

@ CRD - hehehe, That's what happened whenever I've gone to pubs earlier. But when you are with people you can trust, it's good fun too !!! Living life King Size .. hahahaha... They wish ...
